Yes! Schools do provide services for their students; however, they have different standards, based on the unique needs of the population within the school, that qualify children for services. This can exclude children who need services who do not meet these requirements. Since we bill insurance, we are able to qualify children based on their unique needs through assessments of their developmental skills when compared to same-aged peers. We also offer self-pay for patients are not covered by insurance or are subject to insurance limitations.
Every child’s response to treatment is unique. Many factors contribute to a child’s outcome, including their attention during sessions, their motivation and participation levels, and the level of participation of their caregiver in the plan of care. Due to each child’s unique needs and response to treatment, it can be difficult to establish a specific timeline for progress. Generally, however, it is expected that a child receiving consistent therapy at recommended frequency will show improvement in the first 6 to 10 weeks of treatment and will continue to improve as the plan of care is adapted to their changing skills and needs.
The frequency of services is based on the clinical recommendation that results from a formal evaluation. Most children receive recommendations for 1 to 2 therapy sessions per week.
Sessions are 1 hour long, which includes pre-treatment discussion time with caregivers for updates, therapeutic activities, and post-session progress documentation and updates that help to monitor progress.
